1. What is the difference between static magnets and the pulsating electromagnetic fields generated by the QRS?

A permanent magnet is one that stays magnetized and produces a static magnetic force and does not come and go in a frequency pattern. Static field magnets are commonly used in the form of bracelets, back supports, shoe inserts, and sleeping mattresses to control pain. Static magnets can be effective, but over time the body can become accustomed to the constant field, no longer receiving the initial health benefits. Static magnets must be worn or used for long periods of time. Most of these products use field strengths of 10s to 1000s of Gauss.

The QRS does not involve static or permanent magnets. Instead, the QRS has an electrical current passing through a metal coil causes an electromagnetic field. The basic concept of the QRS is that the control unit sends pre-programmed pulsating electrical DC signals (frequencies) to an applicator that contains a copper coil inside. This produces an electromagnetic field in and around the applicator. By laying on the mat, ideally for 8 minutes twice a day, low pulsed magnetic frequencies stimulate cell metabolism, increase oxygen assimilation and accelerate the removal of toxic chemicals and waste.Back to top

2. What is the difference between harmful magnetic fields and beneficial magnetic fields?
Harmful magnetic fields, also know as “electro-smog”, are man-made, unnatural extremely high frequency (Hz) electromagnetic fields that come from electrical wiring and equipment such as power lines, cell phones, computers, and TVs. They can cause stress, which drains our energy, disrupts cell communication and metabolism. Beneficial magnetic fields are very low frequencies that are equivalent to the natural frequencies of the body i.e. the four brain states (alpha, beta, theta, and delta), soft tissues, bone, nerves, the heart, and other organs. Adding a balancing charge to the cells with beneficial magnetic fields puts the body into a state of balance, so it can heal itself.
Science teaches that all energy is electromagnetic in nature. Our bodies and its individual organs radiate their own EMFs and our trillion cells communicate via electromagnetic frequencies. Disruption of electromagnetic energy in cells causes impaired cell metabolism, which leads to disease.Natural electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are present everywhere in our environment but are mostly low in intensity and invisible to the human eye. The earth has a magnetic field and is proven by the needle of a compass that orients in a North-South direction. Also by the natural navigation of birds and fish. There are also non-natural (man-made) electromagnetic fields coming from power lines and electrical apparatuses, such as computers, microwaves, cell phones etc.
It is important to distinguish harmful from beneficial electromagnetic fields.
Harmful electromagnetic fields

We are surrounded with unnatural man made EMF’s from power lines, computer terminals, microwave ovens, TVs, cell phones, hair dryers, electrical blankets and other electronic devices which have an extremely high frequency in the million Hz range. Evidence is showing that these man-made EMFs are contributing to a subtle assault on people’s energy balance and overall health. This new form of pollution, “electrosmog”, has become a real threat in modern life since most of us are unaware of this and do not protect ourselves against it. Electromagnetic pollution is so high these days that there is barely any healing effect coming from natural electromagnetic fields. The QRS has patented the so called “50Hz Electrosmog Killer“, which is applied while the QRS system is in use.
Beneficial electromagnetic fields
These are specifically designed frequencies, applied in controlled ways to have more natural and beneficial actions to the body. For clinical or home use there are devices available for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, such as the QRS. Research has shown that specific pulsed electromagnetic fields in low frequency and intensity range (Gauss or micro-Tesla) increase oxygenation to the blood, improve circulation and cell metabolism. Results include sound sleep, pain relief, reduced inflammation, improved energy levels, enhanced tissue and bone healing, etc. Due to these effects in the body, daily use of beneficial EMFs supports healthy aging. EMFs have been used extensively for decades in many conditions and medical disciplines, and results can be seen in humans as well as animals

3. Is there specific research done on the QRS?
Yes, the QRS is backed by 20 years of scientific knowledge, numerous clinical trial and empirical tests. Lately the National Institute of health in the USA is beginning to make pulsed electromagnetic fields a priority for research as a study is being done on the QRS and Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms and Inflammation. This study is supported by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, National Institutes of Health. Read more about QRS and general PEMF ResearchBack to top

4. What are the physiological effects of QRS treatment?
First, blood circulation increases because friction and flow resistance in the blood vessels are reduced. At the same time, the diffusion rate for oxygen and carbon dioxide increases and oxygen content of the blood goes up. Second, cell membrane potential normalizes due to QRS energy, which restores the balance of positive and negative ions in the cells. Third, calcium is released from the protein layer of cell membranes, triggering many reactions including macrophage activation (the “eating” of foreign particles). Calcium influx enlarges blood vessels and sets off the production of new cells. Thus, the body receives support both in preventing and in fighting illness. Back to top

5. How do pulsed magnetic fields work in the body? What am I supposed to feel while laying on the mat?
The human body is electro-magnetic in nature. We all know the brain and nervous system are electrical. By adding a balancing charge to your cells, your lifestyle improves because your cells are constantly energized and calibrated. Thus, with continued use you will find you feel more vital because your cells are better utilizing the water, food and air you take in. Increased elimination of waste by-products also occur. This process could be referred to as “cell-breathing.” Drinking lots of water is encouraged. PEMFs stimulate currents in tissues. These currents simply don’t flow well without hydration. Thus, drinking 8 glasses of water a day is very helpful for individuals using pulsed electromagnetic fields, PEMFs. Everyone responds differently to PEMFs. Some people do not feel anything when they first begin using the system. Others may feel calmness or drowsiness and increased warmth to the body with increased circulation. Other responses may be slight tingling, relief from discomfort. immediate relaxation, deepened and clearer breathing, and pain relief. Back to top

6.While using the QRS, what immediate changes should I look for in my body?
Everyone responds differently to PEMFs. Some people do not feel anything when they first begin using the system. Others may feel calmness or drowsiness and increased warmth to the body with increased circulation. Other responses may be slight tingling, relief from discomfort and “tipsy” after a treatment. Overall we hear people are more relaxed and sleep and recover better.
Regarding specific health conditions we have learned that sometimes it takes weeks for cholesterol values to improve, or even six months for calcium and magnesium balance to improve significantly. But don’t be discouraged; beneficial actions in the body do take place when QRS is applied daily. Therefore, PEMF treatment is not a quick fix; the QRS should rather be viewed as a health maintenance system used for prevention.

7. How much time each day do I use the QRS? Do I sleep on it?
No, you do not sleep on the QRS. One 8-16-minute treatment, upon rising or after work, is all you need. For best results, using the QRS again before bedtime will assist in sleep and regenerating a tired stressed body. Note: Increasing your time to 16-24 minutes per session will also maximize your results.Back to top

8. Can QRS be combined with other treatments?
QRS is ideal applied as an adjunctive treatment. Examples include homeopathy, nutritional supplements, chemotherapy, drugs, acupuncture, and massage. The absence of side effects ensures that there is no conflict between treatments.Back to top

9. What is the role of metabolism in cell function, and How does QRS affect cell metabolism??
Metabolism in general, refers to chemical reactions in body cells. As food is broken down or oxidized, energy is produced. Cell mitochondria give out heat and ATP (adenosine triphosphate), a vital form of chemical energy utilized in all cell activity. Activity releases carbon dioxide, water, and other waste products. When cell membranes do not receive the required amount of energy, this sequence of reactions is impaired. When reactions are impaired, cytolysis (cell disintegration) results.

The electromagnetic fields generated by the QRS have a positive influence on any process in the body. By displacing ions, pulsating magnetic fields can lead to normalization of the cell membrane potential. By applying a pulsed electromagnetic field, body cells receive the energy they lack. Then cells are enabled to function (metabolize) optimally. Read more about QRS effect on the Cells. Back to top

10.
Other pulsed electromagnetic field devices have a much higher magnetic field strength in Gauss than the QRS. Why does the QRS have such a low magnetic field strength?
There are three important output aspects to consider when looking at PEMF devices. One is the range of frequencies, the second is the frequency waveform, and third is the magnetic field strength. The magnetic field strength (or intensity) is the least significant of these three. Most of the devices claim a magnetic field strength of 1,000-10,000 micro-Tesla (10-100 Gauss). The World Health Organization considers a continuous magnetic field of 100 micro-Tesla (1 Gauss) at 50Hz as safe. The average magnetic field strength for the QRS Home system is 15 micro-Tesla with a maximum peak of 150 micro-Tesla (1.5 Gauss). The QRS uses field strengths that are below the WHO limit; even the maximum peak of 150 micro-Tesla is safe, since it is not used in a continuous way. Note that the frequencies are the most important aspect of the device; QRS has a more extensive range of frequencies than most other systems. Some manufacturers may state their superiority, but there is absolutely no research that compares the output energy, speed induction, magnitude, and waveform efficiency of other PEMF systems on the market today. There are no scientific studies that state one PEMF system out performs another! QRS is noninvasive, gentle, and natural to the body. Each product has specific features that might suit one individual over the other. For more technical information go to Technical Data. Back to top

11. What range of frequencies does the QRS system provide, and Which frequency signal is the best?
A pulsed electromagnetic field system should have a wide frequency range in order to produce beneficial therapeutic physiological actions on the body. The QRS offers a frequency range from 0.3-1,000 Hz.
Many companies that sell other PEMF devices claim that their product has the best pulse form. All kinds of pulse forms have been used in the research that has been done on pulsed electromagnetic fields. Unfortunately, there has not been much research done that compares which wave form is best. The QRS uses a saw-tooth wave and is modulated with a sinusoidal wave form as a basic carrier frequency which has been proven effective in clinical studies. 12. Will I still receive the benefits from the QRS if I put a pillow or blanket over the mattress when I use it?
The electromagnetic field is effective up to three feet around the entire mattress and pillow. Thus, you will still receive the benefits from the QRS if you place a pillow or blanket over the large mattress. Please note that the magnetic field is the strongest at the surface of the small pillow and mattress, therefore, the magnetic field strength decreases the further away you get from the mattress.

14. How durable is the QRS system and how may years will it last?
The QRS is made out of high quality, durable material and should last at least 10 years under proper daily use. It is manufactured in Germany by an ISO certified company and is made in accordance with the EC directive for medical devices and therefore carry the CE sign including the registration number. There is minor maintenance involved with the QRS, other than occationally cleaning it with a soft damp cloth. No calabration of the control unit needed. Back to top

 15. Can I overdose on the QRS? Are there any contraindications and side effects?
No, one cannot overdose on pulsed electromagnetic fields. On the other end, you don’t have to use more than three sessions a day for more than 60 minutes per session, since the beneficial effect of a treatment last 6-8 hours.
Do not use PEMFs in the following conditions:
• During pregnancy.
• People who have a heart pacemaker or other electrical implants.
• People with organ transplants.
It is recommended to consult with a doctor in the following conditions:
• When suffering from epilepsy.
• When having serious bacterial or fungal infections.
• Fever higher than 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Although there are no known side effects, some individuals may experience discomfort in the first few days due to the detoxification aspects of PEMFs
